evaluation questions planning draft1

Here is a powerpoint presentation with the planning for our Evalution questions.

Tuesday 1 May 2012

changes made from draft 4 to draft 5

In draft 4 of our opening sequence we had new ways of improving by applying the following to our draft 5 :

  • have a wider variety of shots for the flashbacks
  • end the opening sequence with girl on floor crying
  • show audience what the girl is studying
  • have more shots of girl studying
  • show letter to make the information on it clearer
  • use better angles in order to make it easier for audience to read what texts say
  • if using a long text make sure timing is enough for audience to read it
  • make girl look more ill by the use of mise-en-scene
  • pay attention to framing
  • make sure that the person having the flashback is in the same position before and after the flashback to make it clear to the audience
  • show she is cold by having a blanket and warm pyjamas
  • have girl in different positions when studying to show passing of time
  • show clock to inform the audience of the time passing
  • show girl before having point of view shots so audience know that the point of view is from the girl
  • show titles of studios at the beginning of the opening sequence
  • make titles/credits longer
  • show girl kneeling on floor when reads letter
  • show slow motion of letter as girl drops it in disappointment
  • add more effects of lighting to flashbacks
  • change what girl and friend say during the conversation about the party

Planning for draft 4

Here is our planning for draft 4 presentation

changes made from draft 3 to draft 4 opening sequence

From draft 3 to draft 4 of our opening sequence there some changes made such as :

  • The costume of the main character changed from being tracksuits to pyjamas to emphasise her being ill.
  • Her hair was tied back and she was wearing darker eye make-up.
  • More shots of the main character studying were added to make it more engaging.
  • Added shots of the work and what she was revising.
  • The location was changed to maria's house as there was more space to move the camera around and get better footage.
  • Establishing shots were added to communicate to the audience where it was set.
  • Sound was changed to a more effective and emotional music for the audience to feel more sympathy for the main character.
  • Titles/ credits were changed to the appropriate order, colour and font of our genre.
  • Pace increases up to climax due to the sounds used.
  • Made party flashback more realistic with more people.
  • Added point of view shots to show disorientation from the main character.
  • Showed titles/credits throughout the whole opening sequence and not all at once.
  • Added a flashback of the bedroom scene to make it theme clearer to the audience.
  • Used a wider variety a of shots comparing to draft 3.

Friday 20 April 2012

titles/ credits assignment

This was an assignment set by my teacher in which we had to research different titles/credits from different opening sequence of the same genre as our opening sequence. This helped our group understanding the order of titles/credits and the type and colour of font appropriate to suit our genre.

Planning for draft 3

Here is our planning presentation for draft 3

changes made from draft 2 to draft 3 opening sequence

There were some changes made from our opening sequence Draft 2 to Draft three such as :

  • The flashbacks were added to the scene where the main character emphasises her emotions after reading the NHS letter.
  • The interior location of the living room was changed due to lack of space and therefore we used another member's (Maria Younes) living room to get better quality footage.
  • The main character starts off by wearing a Hollister top when she is studying and finds our her blood test results, but then she is wearing a different top when she goes to the living room. This was an incident we had to sort out last minute as the top used for draft 2 was not in good conditions for filming.
  • The music we used in draft 2 was not appropriate to create the mood we were looking for from the audience therefore for draft 3 we used a calming piano sound which we found more effective.
  • The bedroom we made it more messy and more books in order to show disorganisation from the main character.
  • Payed more attention to editing and made it more continuous.
  • Got rid of some of the fast forwarding that was used and was not successful.
  • Changed the titles/credits to a font and colour that would be more appropriate for our genre.
